PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla - William J. VanBlarcom, 79, died Monday (Dec. 9, 2002) peacefully at his home in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Bill was born April 30. 1923, in Franklin. He moved with his wife to Port Charlotte after they retired in 1982. He worked at Johns-Manville Corp. in the design and research photo lab in Finderne, and later at the Denver, Colo. plant.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was also a member of the Plainfield Volunteer Rescue squad for 11 years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Graef.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Delores M. Kugler VanBlarcom; a daughter, Susan Zardus Newcomb; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and a brother, Philip VanBlarcom of Somerville.
Funeral services are on Dec. 14 at the Speer-Van Arsdale Funeral Home in Somerville, followed by additional services and entombment at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater. Friends will be received Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held in Port Charlotte at a later date.
