Pension Application
Added: Feb 09, 2017The following was extracted from William's Civil War Pension Application:
"I am married. My first wife was Ellen Decker. We were married some years before the war. She died near Presho about twenty years ago. She is buried at Erwin Center. I was not married again until married to my present wife Celestia Crants- September 9, 1875 by Rev. L. D. Ayers (exhibited - has the appearance of being genuine) We were married near Lindley, NY. My wife's maiden name was Youngs. When I married her she was the widow of Lewis Crants and rec'd pension as his widow. He served in Co C. 141 NY Inf. The only child of the second marriage is Peter Vanderhoof, born Aug 18, 1880.
I have fully understood the questions asked and my answers thereto have been correctly recorded in the foregoing deposition which has been read to me." Signed William Vanderhoof and witnessed by Celestia Vanderhoof and Peter Vanderhoof.
