Mrs. Hannah C. Hammond, 88, of Cooper Plains, died Friday, Apr. 30, 1937, at 6:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Spencer. 560 Center Street, Horseheads, after an illness of five weeks. Mrs. Hammond was born at Oak Ridge, NJ Apr. 29, 1849, a daughter of Daniel and Margaret Roe. She married David Hammond 69 years ago. He died in 1923. Mrs. Roe had resided at Coopers Plains about 60 years and was a member of the ME Church of that town. She is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Henry Spencer of Horseheads, a son Nelson Hammond of Cortland, PA; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three brothers, William Roe of Sullivanville, Walter Roe of Elmira Heights; Ford Roe of Horseheads. The body is in the Ryal and Jones funeral home Corning where a prayer service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Funeral in the Coopers Plains ME Church at 4 p.m. Rev. James Wilson.
