Samuel Whitehead

Birth: 4 Jun 1906
Death: 19 Aug 1982

Samuel was the seventh son born to Samuel and Velma. Considering his birth date in comparison to his twin brothers before him, Samuel must have been born at least 3 months premature. Samuel only completed school through the fourth grade and worked on the family farm through his remaining time living at home.

On November 12, 1927, Samuel married Carrie Miller (1909-1998) at the Flemington Baptist Church. Services were performed by Reverend Edward Miller. Samuel and Carrie had ten children: Stanley (1928), Edna (1931), Mabel ”Tootsie” (1936), Katherine “Katsy” (1938), Helen S “Pudgie” (1938-2014), Irene 1945-1995), Betty Ann, Alice, Doris, and Ronald. The family lived in Raritan Township in 1930 and relocated to Flemington sometime before 1935.

Samuel worked most of his career as a truck driver for Dorf Trucking. He worked in the trucking industry until his retirement.

Samuel died in 1982 at Hunterdon Medical Center and he is buried with his wife at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington.
