Michael Rorick Sutton

Michael Rorick Sutton was the first child born to Jacob Sutton and Hannah Rorick Sutton.

On March 29, 1822, Michael married Elizabeth Forrester, daughter of Peter Forrester and Katharine Pietersen. Michael and Elizabeth had seven children born in Sussex County, New Jersey: Hannah (m. Joseph Ayres), Lucy (m. Manuel Sibbet), Joseph Ford, Katharine, Elias Fairchild, Matilda Fairchild (m. William L Barclay), and Amos Munson (m. Joanna Bates).

Michael started his career as a farmer, but transitioned to harness making around the time that he relocated to Michigan. Later Michael and his son-in-law, Joseph Ayres, were in business together owning a Boot, Shoe & Harness store.

Michael Rorick Sutton died in 1881 at the age of 83 and is buried in a large Sutton/Ayres plot at Romeo Cemetery in Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan.
