Hannah Rorick Sutton

Hannah Rorick was the second of eight children born to Michael Rorick and Lucretia Harden Rorick. She was born and raised in Sussex County, New Jersey. Hannah's father, Michael Rorick, served as a Private in the Sussex County NJ Militia.

On March 18, 1797, Hannah married Jacob Sutton, son of Jonathan Sutton and Rachael Colyer. Hannah and Jacob had eight children born in Hardyston, Sussex, New Jersey: Michael Rorick, Rebecca, Lewis, Jacob, Jonathan, John Rorick, Catharine, and William Inglis.

Hannah lived her life taking care of the house. In 1856 Hannah relocated to Romeo Michigan with her son, Michael Rorick Sutton's family to live out her days.

Hannah died at the age of 84 and is buried in a large Sutton/Ayres plot at Romeo Cemetery in Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan. Her headstone is inscribed "Mother of Michael R. Sutton".
