Abraham Louis Simpson

Abraham L Simpson was born in New Jersey in about 1836. His parents are still unconfirmed.

On February 4, 1864, Abraham married Mary Louise Ball, daughter of Ralph Burnett Ball and Catherine Titus Ball. Abraham and Mary Louise had six children born in Hardyston: Laura E (1865-1919), Lela C (1866-1931), Susan (1869-1937), Ralph Burnett (1871-1946), Mary Helen (1872-1872), and Catherine (1873-1926).

Abraham, among many of the Franklin/Hardyston men of the time, worked at the Franklin Furnace Zinc mines, otherwise known as "The Furnace".

According to soldier roll records, Abraham served in the Civil War as a Private with Company K in the 2nd Regiment, New Jersey Calvary. According to his headstone, at some time during his service he may have switched to Company D of the NJ 27th.

Abraham Louis Simpson died some time before 1900 and is buried at North Hardyston Cemetery in Hamburg, Sussex County, New Jersey.
