Ethel Mae Shay was born in 1915, daughter of Chola Nicholas Shay and Sadie M Henry Shay.
In the 1930s, Ethel married Louis Paul Helmacy and they had at least one son, Douglas Paul in 1936. Ethel and her first husband divorced and she went on to marry three more times. According to her Social Security Application she carried the names White, Helamcy, Nash and finally Shonkwiler.
Ethel Mae Shay died in 1997 and is buried with her parents at Branchville Cemetery in Branchville, Sussex County, New Jersey.
