Andrew Van Blarcom

Andrew Van Blarcom was born in 1880, son of Captain Lewis William Van Blarcom and Mary Thompson Van Blarcom.

On May 9, 1906, Andrew married Sarah Streit Riker, daughter of Joseph Marsh Riker and Sarah Ellen Streit Riker of Newark. Andrew and Sarah had five children; Andrew (1907-1934), Sarah Hunter (1909-1989), Mary Thompson (1913-1953), Joseph Riker (1916-2000) and Anne Brackenridge (1921-2008).

According to the Genealogical and Memorial History of the State of New Jersey by Lee Francis Bazley:
Andrew Van Blarcom was educated at the Newton Collegiate Institute, after which he read law in the office of Mssrs. Count [sic] & Howell, Esquires, and was admitted to the New Jersey bar as attorney in February, 1902, and as counsellor in February, 1905. Since that time he has been in the general practice of his profession in Newark, New Jersey, where he is regarded as one of the rising men of the present generation. In politics Mr. Van Blarcom is a Republican. He is a Presbyterian, and a member of the Essex Club of Newark, of the Lawyers' Club of Newark, and of the Wednesday Club.

Andrew died in 1944 and is buried with his wife in a large Van Blarcom plot in Newton Cemetery in Newton, Sussex, New Jersey.
