Jacob was born to Brant Van Blarcom and Getty Van Riper Van Blarcom. He was baptized May 24, 1857 at Totowa.3
On January 16, 1840 Jacob married Euphemia Maria Dixon at the Saddle River Lutheran Church in Saddle River, New Jersey.3 The two had six children; Amelia, Gertrude, Eliza Jane, William Dixon, Brant and Jacob Craig. Euphemia died February 21, 1851. Jacob married second Sarah Ann Rea of New Rochelle, New York. They were married July 20, 1854 in West Morrissania, New York1 and they had one daughter, Maria Euphemia.

Jacob died in 18572 and is buried at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey.
