Ursula Ann Smith Vanderhoof

Ursula was the first child born to Sanford and Barbara Ellen Woolever Smith.

In the mid 1860s, Ursula married Henry John Vanderhoof, son of Garret and Catharine Winters Vanderhoof. Ursula and Henry John had seven children; Lyda, Elvira (m. Frank Riggles), Jesse H, Nellie B (m. Frank H Bronson), Clara Mae (m. Charles Gile), Clarence and John Henry. After Henry John died in 1881. Ursula could not run her farm on her own and sold it. In 1883, two years after Henry John's passing, Ursula married Simeon Bucher. Simeon made her give up Clarence Sanford Vanderhoff and John Henry Vanderhoff as a condition of marriage. Clarence was adopted out to cousins Horace and Maggie Roe-Davis of Caton, NY at age 3 and took their last name.

Ursula died in 1934 and is buried with her second husband at Post Creek Cemetery in Post Creek, Chemung, New York.
