Celestia Young was born in New Jersey in 1902.

Celestia married first Lewis Crans who served in Co C. 141 NY Inf. Celestia and Lewis had four children; Adrian, Wilber E, Harriet E and George E. On September 9, 1875 Celestia married William H Vanderhoof, son of Garret and Catherine Winters Vanderhoof. Celestia and William had one son, Peter.

Celestia died in 1902.
