In 1866 Henry Clay married Nellie J Wilson of New York. There is no record of any children from their marriage.

Henry worked on the railroad holding many different jobs, from brakeman to car inspector.

Sometime between 1880 and 1900, Henry and his wife moved to Claire, Michigan.

Henry is buried with his wife at Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare, Michigan, though no headstones are currently present.
