Caleb Ball

Caleb Ball was the first of two sons born to Caleb and Sarah Thompson Ball.

Caleb Ball married first Elizabeth Peck, daughter of Joseph Peck and Lydia Ball, in 1718. Caleb and Elizabeth had six children; Abigail, Mary, Jane, Keziah, Joshua and Isaiah. Caleb married second Sarah Wallace, daughter of James Wallace, in about 1727. Caleb and Sarah had eight children; Eleanor, Sarah, Ezekiel, Caleb, Lydia, Anne, Deborah and Mathew.

Caleb became owner of one-sixth of the Old Iron Works, the common name for the Budd-Ford forge. The will of Caleb Ball dated July 25, 1748 at Hanover, Morris, NJ lists sons Isaiah, Joshua, Caleb, Ezekiel, Mathew, as well as daughters Abigail Johnson, Eliner Ball, Jane Perry, Mary Bates, Sarah Ball, Lydia Ball, Ann Ball, Deborah Ball, and Keziah Kitchel (deceased with heirs). The will of Caleb Ball was proven 29 August 1748.1

Caleb died in 1748 in Hanover, Morris, New Jersey.
