Kezia Ball

Kezia Ball was baptized on September 17, 1747 at Hanover, Morris, New Jersey, but was probably born a month or more earlier. She was the daughter of Joshua Ball and Phebe Carman.

Kezia Ball died of consumption on August 24, 1774 at the age of 27. Consumption is what is now known as tuberculosis and was one of the most common killers of young adults in 19th century America. Consumption was characterized by fever, chills, flushing of the cheeks and a veracious cough.
