Van Edwards Graef

Van was born in Plainfield, NJ and was the second son born to George Milton and Lois Van Blarcom Graef. He grew up in NJ and attended Somerville High School. Van was an exceptional athlete in high school. During that time he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Ultimately he landed a scholarship in basketball to Salem University. Van completed his secondary education graduating from Ohio State University School of Banking and Finance.

Van had a number of marriages and from those produced 4 sons. His youngest, Tucker, passed in an accident in 2005.

He worked in banking in New Jersey until his move to Colorado in 1977. Van worked in finance for Williams Chevrolet a number of years before venturing out as an entrepreneur. In the 1990s he opened Colorado Reflections, a Colorado gift shop at Chapel Hills Mall. In his next venture, Van opened Mickey Finns sports bar until the challenges of multiple sclerosis forced him to sell. However, he did not give up. Van continued to push the envelope for himself by using technology on the computer to write and publish two books, "Not Just Walking" and "Fishing Techniques for Parents and Their Kids."

Van passed away in Colorado in 2011 due to complications of multiple sclerosis.
